What's Pollinating in Flagstaff Right Now
Through September and October, Flagstaff's active pollen is almost entirely weeds — sagebrush, ragweed, dock and chenopod (goosefoot and related desert weeds) — along with Alternaria mold that lingers after late-summer monsoon moisture. Counts usually drop off after the first hard freeze, which at this elevation often arrives in late October or November. Flagstaff's headline tree allergens are out of season now: juniper typically begins in late winter, and ponderosa pine and oak follow in spring. If your symptoms are flaring in fall, weeds and mold are the likeliest cause, not pine.
